Thomas J. Krupa


One of 13 children of Polish immigrants, Mr. Krupa was born in the depression in 1930 and brought up in Philadelphia where he graduated from Northeast Public High School in 1948 and promptly entered the US Air Force. He served 20 years in the Intelligence field, including assignments at Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers in Europe and the Defense Intelligence Agency at the Pentagon, developing a keen interest in geography and maps. Studying at night schools for 13 years, he earned bachelor’s degrees from the University of Maryland and George Washington University in Physics, and a Master’s degree from Drexel University. His studies included Polish, Spanish, French and German languages, and world civilizations. After retiring from the USAF, he embarked on a completely new career in engineering and applied physics, specializing in ordnance fuzing, becoming Director of Engineering of his company. At age 57 he decided to quit work, buy a motor home and tour the US, Canada, Alaska and Mexico and enjoy the freestyle life of an explorer. Tiring of this, he returned to work as a fuze consultant, working until age 73. Still needing a creative outlet, he began to write. His interests include hiking and camping, photography, gardening and home remodelling and repair. He lives on a 6 acre farmette in Lancaster County, PA. with his wife of 62 years. They have four children.
